Hi, I’m Tomiwa Phillips, founder of Obsidian Cosmetics.
For years, I battled oily, acne-prone skin that never seemed to calm down — no matter what I tried. Every “oil control” cleanser or toner left my skin feeling dry, tight, and more irritated than before. I realized the problem wasn’t my skin — it was the approach.
I started Obsidian Cosmetics to create skincare that respects oily, melanin-rich skin. Instead of harsh, stripping formulas, I wanted something gentle yet effective — rooted in African herbs and backed by modern science. What began as a personal search for balance became a mission to help others experience the same transformation.
